  3. Hi Jeremy,

Time flies and soon you will all be back. From the photos, we can see that you are all enjoying the trip very much. =D

I believe our Eliasians would have got many gifts from their China friends especially after the house visiting. Hahaha, time to let you all practise your packaging skills on Thursday...squeezing all the gifts into their luggages.

P/S: It would be useful to get some newspapers (for fragile items) for the children to help them do their packing on Thursday night.

    See you all soon!

  4. Hi Eliasians, Mrs Han, Mr Ang, Mrs Ng, Mdm Rashidah & Mdm Xi

I'm posting this with the hope that you will somehow still get to read this before you fly back to Singapore. So you see, I am a very optimistic person =)

Another day to go before you all take the long flight back to Singapore. From what I read, I get the sense that all of you are looking forward to coming home and eating your favourite foods in Singapore. Indeed, many Singaporeans who have spent long periods of time overseas have shared that it was the Singapore food that they missed one of the most while they were away. You all did well 'cos you demonstrated adaptability despite the differences in food in Xi'an =)

If you have purchased a lot of gifts for family members and friends, you will have to be very skillful in packing. Tomorrow, when you pack, you will have to use your science concepts to figure out how to maximise storage within the limited volume of your luggage. Of course, even if you manage to squeeze everything in,you still have to consider the maximum weight of 20 kg per person. That sounds like a lot of balancing to do! Whatever the challenges, I am sure you will find your solution creatively =D

As you will be touching down in the wee hours of Friday morning, I shall not be welcoming all of you back personally at Changi Airport. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and pleasant journey back to Singapore. Remember to keep close to one another especially when you are going through the immigration checkpoints.

Do have a good rest on Friday to Sunday! I look forward to welcoming everyone back in Elias Park Primary School on the first day of Term 2, 23.3.2009.

  5. Dear Eliasians on the Xi'an Trip,

I have an additional assignment for you. Your teachers have prepared you for your Xi'an trip and looked after you well from the time you checked into Changi Airport Terminal 3 at 8.00 am on 11.3.2009 to the time they hand you back safely into your parents hands in the early hours of 20.3.2009. Believe me,it would have been a daily 24 hours' round-the-clock job for them throughout the Xi'an trip.

I am sure you know that your teachers left their family members and took on heavy responsibility of looking after all of you. I believe you will have words of appreciations for them. I look forward to reading your individual words of appreciations to them. And remember that the most meaningful words of appreciations are always those that are specific. If your teachers has done something specific for you that touched you deeply, do let them know so that they too can be touched with your sincerity!

  6. Dear Mrs Wong, Mrs Han, Mr Ang, Mrs Ng, Mdm Rashidah, Mdm Xi, Mdm Tan, Miss Koh, Eliasians and Xi'an friends:

With sincere and utmost thanks, we would like to thank the school for their relentless effort in organizing the school Twinning Programme in Xi'an. We would also like to thank the school for given our child with this golden opportunity to be choosen for this programme.

Greatly appreciate the principal, teachers for taking care of our children not only for the past 10 days, but also the preparation stage: right from getting to know Xian and through mails or personally ensuring that our children need to apply the moisturer and lip balm, putting on extra clothing during the cold season, ensuring that they eat well, drinking plenty of water, sleep well, just to ensure that they don’t fall sick, going to school safety and ensuring that our children daily scheduled activities are met, performing, outing, shopping, packing, entertaining questions like why my camera is not working ? Trying to fix it if possible, etc? Real taking care of them of their daily activities and most importantly, ensuring our children are back home safety. I’m sure most of our children have not been away for so long without their parents.

In addition, really appreciate the posting of the wonderful pictures on line and daily updates on events and happenings in Xi’an. We parents can really feel and sense the happiness of our children from their photos and daily updates.

We are confident that our children have enjoyed, learnt and gained a lot of experience from this trip. It broadened and increased their interest beyond Singapore and sense of belonging to be a Singaporean. Besides, they learnt more about their counterparts in China on education, culture, language, lifestyles and historical values. Also, the interpersonal and social skills that they have developed will be useful when they grown up. They are indeed Ambassadors of EPPS. We are really proud of them..

Would like to this opportunity for thanking the counterpart in Xi’an for their warm and friendly hospitality, condusive learning environment that make all Eliasians feel at home.

The teachers have already built a strong bonding with the Eliasians. Let’s hope that they can be passed on to the rest of Eliasians and may all their learning and friendship with Xi’an stay forever.

Once again, a big Thank You to all of you!

    WELL DONE! KEEP IT UP!

Sincere thank to all the teachers and Mrs Wong for making this trip possible for our children. Without your sacrifices with your own family time, our children may not experience and had such a remarkable & rewarding learning journey during this March holiday !!
With Regards and all the Best to you & your family.

  9. Dear Mrs Wong, Mrs Han, Mr Ang, Mrs Ng, Mdm Rashidah, Mdm Xi and other staff of EPPS who have helped to make this trip a success:

From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank all of you for creating this opportunity for our daughter to participate in this twinning programme.

Expecting Karina to feel tired after arriving early this morning (and perhaps would sleep through the day), we were pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong.

How can she bear to sleep when she has so many interesting and exciting learning experiences to share with us? We could see the change in her; a more independent person, an increase in self-confidence, a higher level of proficiency in the Chinese language, a deeper understanding of interpersonal relationships etc. She has definitely grown in the 10 days in Xi'an.

No textbook could have taught a child the above. Only an experience such as this trip could have done it. As parents, we would not have been able to create such a learning opportunity. Thus we are really thankful to EPPS for putting in so much efforts to organise this trip.

    Once again, THANK YOU!

  11. Dearest Mrs. Han, Mr. Ang, Mdm. Rashidah, Mdm. Xi & Mrs. Ng.......

I would like to thank all the teachers for their '24 hour service' throughout the whole trip in Xi'An. You have sacrificed your March Holidays with us instead of your family members. =P

All the teachers had prepared us for the performance on Wednesday, which brought satisfaction and impression to the pupils in Xi'An as well as the pupils from Punggol Primary School. :P

All the teachers have took good care of us the moment our parents handed us to the teachers at the airport. The teachers had returned us safely into the hands of our parents early in the morning once we touch down in Singapore and cleared the customs. =)

I would like to thank Mdm. Rashidah specially because... she went through a lot of hardship throughout the whole Xi'An trip. She thought us a lot of table manners. "Girls, what did I just say?" was a sentence that she always said to us in the restaurant. (It is because we always talk loudly in the restaurant. Haha.) Mdm Rashida don't usually eat with us in the restaurant because... THE FOOD IS NOT HALAL! If she does, she will eat her own food she brought from Singapore. During dinner on 19 March 2009, Mdm. Rashidah did not even eat! Luckily, she took some of the sweets & biscuits we offered her so her fill herself up for quite a while. ( I think it should be enough till the food is served on the plane.) Mdm. Rashidah, from your Persevere and Endeavour, I learnt that...... nothing is impossible, unless you give up! ( I am sorry if I had once made you angry... )

Once again, I would like to thank the teachers for taking so good care of us in Xi'An without needing our parents to worry. :)

    THANK YOU TEACHERS!! =D

I would like to thank the teachers for taking good care of us for the past 10 days. They ensured that we were healthy and fit, so that we were able to participate in all the activities.

From the beginning of the trip, they constantly reminded us to wear extra clothing, to put on moisturizer and lip balm, to drink plenty of water, to eat well and to sleep early. All these purely were to ensure that we do not fall sick.

Mrs Han, thank you for lending me the red scarf when mine was being misplaced but fortunately managed to find back at last.

Mr Ang, thank you for capturing beautiful photos of us for future sweet memories.

Mrs Ng, thank you for highlighting to me that my digital camera was not in good condition. Luckily I did carry a spare camera.

Mdm Xi, thank you for teaching us on table mannerism: We had learnt to greet elders and friends as a gesture for respect before we eat & no holding of utensils when we greet. In addition, marking our daily dairy entries and made corrections for us.

Mdm Xi and Mdm Rashida, thank you for letting us to practice our song and dance performance in your room.

I have acquired and benefited tremendously from the trip. I have learnt to be more independent, more self-confident, sharpen my interpersonal and communication skills and develop strong bonding and excellent relationship with classmates, etc….

Although I am back in Singapore, but fondling memories of Xi’an such as the cooling weather, the places of interest, the magnificent structure of the school, warmth and friendly Xian friends and teachers, mouth-watering food, etc….

I just can’t wait to go back to school on Monday to share with my friends about my fruitful trip.

Once again, thanks all the teachers for all the things that you had done. All of you had really taken good care of us throughout the Xi’an trip. Thanks EPPS for putting so much effort in organizing this Twinning programme.
